Two agencies can quote ₹25,000 and ₹2.5 lakh for what sounds like the same website, and both can be fair prices. The difference is almost never design quality — it is what is being built underneath.
| Type | Typical range | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Template site | ₹15,000 – ₹40,000 | Pre-built theme, your content, limited changes |
| Custom business site | ₹60,000 – ₹2,00,000 | Original design, CMS, forms, SEO groundwork |
| E-commerce | ₹1,20,000 – ₹5,00,000 | Catalogue, payments, shipping, order admin |
| Web application | ₹3,00,000 + | Accounts, business logic, integrations |
What actually drives the number
- Page count is the weakest driver. Ten pages using three templates cost less than four pages each designed separately.
- Custom functionality is the strongest. A booking engine, a price calculator or a customer login each add design, build and test cycles.
- Content readiness. Projects stall on content more than on code. Copywriting and photography are real line items.
- Integrations. Payment gateway, CRM, ERP, courier API — each one is a small project of its own.
What a cheap quote usually leaves out
- Mobile performance — a site that scores 40 on a mid-range Android phone
- On-page SEO structure, schema and a working sitemap
- An admin panel you can actually use without calling the developer
- Accessible markup and sensible heading structure
- Ownership — ask whose name the hosting and domain are registered in
